Jennifer Lopez was seen in Lima, Peru filming scenes for ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen 2 days ago. The scene she was filming involved a person who was able to use a soccer ball to do a bunch of tricks. She left Peru on Sunday to go to Chile to film more scenes for her reality show that is set to air in 2012. 


Jennifer Lopez was seen wearing a bright yellow leather dress. The boat neck dress she was wearing was the A.L.C. Sienna dress. The dress comes in yellow and in black.

After watching Angelina Jolie’s brief interview on her Hollywood premiere of “In the Land of Blood and Honey” it dawned on me that the rest of you probably want to know what make up Angelina Jolie uses to get that luminescent skin and signature smokey eyed look. 

She probably gets photo facials and oxygen facials and special foods before big events, however there are some things that the rest of us can buy from our department stores that she uses to get her Hollywood glamorous look for premieres. Of course not all of us have those lips, eyes or cheek bones, but there are some make up secrets that can help us get some of the looks.

• Moisturize: use your favorite hydrating moisturizer to the face and neck.
• Foundation: apply a light layer of medium coverage oil-free foundation to the face with a sponge. For Angelina Jolie, Matin uses Laura Mercier Foundation in Honey Beige.
• Concealer: use conditioner to cover up dark circles. Matin suggest the Stila Cover Up Stick in color B available at Sephora.com.
• Powder: To set the look, use Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil Powder all over the face. This mineral veil

• Lips: lips should be lightly lined with a nude liner like the one by Nars and then use a lip brush to evenly apply a creamy lipstick such as the Nars lipstick in Barbarella to finish off the whole look.

Last night I went to the Monika Chiang Bagsnob shopping event on Robertson in Los Angeles. Monika Chiang was there with Bagsnobs Tina Craig and Kelly Cook to greet guests as they arrived. I caught up with Tina and Kelly and had a brief chat with Monika Chiang herself.


Monika talked to me about the inspiration for her line and what she thought was missing in the fashion marketplace. She mentioned that her travels and her own personal style influenced most of her designs. She said all the details that give something classic an edgy twist was part of the idea behind her collection. 


From browsing the store, I immediately felt like she was a new edgier ToryBurch. She has 2 stores already one in New York City and one in Los Angeles. Celebrities are loving her clothing and her marketing team have all the right elements in place. Her site is beautiful and her boutiques are beautiful. Monika has thought about every detail from the pull out luxurious tabs for her shoe boxes to her jewelry that is made of brass and gold plated to give the jewelry a feeling of gold weight. And the best part of all the price points are that sweet spot that Tory Burch has hit for attainable luxury. 


When you look at the clothing and accessories in the Monika Chiang boutique you immediately think will those moto leather pants be $2,300 like The Row? When you try the pants on the leather is sumptuous and the cut is perfect. The surprise is that the price is $845. Her tops are $95. Her long drape dress is $245. After a little research, I found out that Monika Chiang is being financed by ToryBurch’s ex husband Christopher Burch through his finance firm J Christopher that is in the process of financing 9 other fashion brands. Christopher Burch sold his first apparel company for $140M before he turned 35 and continued to invest in fashion brands. His ex wife Tory Burch’s line was also financed and launched by him. He still sits on the board as Chairman today. Monika Chiang is a smart beautiful woman with a keen design sense that she did not learn from design school. She has a great grasp of what the right marketing and positioning in an otherwise saturated crowded market can do for a lifestyle brand and partnered herself with the best in the industry. This brand is destined to become an empire.
